Position Title: Clerk/PCT
Unit/Department: Surgery

Status: Position has been posted inside and outside of the hospital.

Description: The Clerk/PCT will carry out his/her duties in the preoperative and postoperative area. Under the supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN) the Patient Care Technician/Clerk is responsible to provide daily services involving basic care for patients, processing physicians' orders, answering the telephone and intercom, performing a variety of clerical duties and clinical tasks as well as other assigned unit duties. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. The Clerk / PCT is responsible for using current forms, organization and completeness of all patient charts. Functions as a receptionist, responsible for supply ordering and stocking, maintain supplies for office area. Assists with admitting and discharging patients by performing selected patient care activities and maintaining organized, equipped work area. Delivers care in a cost effective manner without compromising the quality of care. Practices in accordance with accepted departmental and hospital policies and procedures. This is a Registry position. Candidate must be available to work on an as needed basis. This position may work varied hours to meet the needs of the department.

Requirements: Evidence of successful completion of recognized Nursing Assistant program; or completed the fundamentals course of nursing school; or one year experience in an ECF; or other technical background as approved by ROSE Business and/or Clinical Director. Successful completion of ROSE orientation and competency based skills appropriate for the job. Individual performance and competency based skills are maintained through ongoing assessment of competence and educational activities. Written evaluations are done on an annual basis.Must maintain competence in BLS after initial training.A calm, pleasant, professional demeanor is expected.Must have the ability to work cooperatively with all staff, physicians and departments. Must be committed to Patient Satisfaction and Patient Safety.Must be a high school graduate/GED.Must write legibly with correct spelling Medical terminology preferred.Experience working in a health care setting preferred. Able to multi-task in a chaotic and stressful environment. Must have good communication and organizational skills Must have typing/Keyboarding experienceComputer experience with Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.Ability to anticipate needs of co-workers, patients, physicians and others as related to position

Pay Range: $12.11-$13.74
