**Positions available in Thomson, GA: Salina, KS; and Remington, IN.
SUMMARY
DISTRIBUTION CENTER GENERAL MANAGER must be knowledgeable in all facets of the facility and will be directly responsible for all related, off-site facilities. Must be able to think on his/her feet and make sound decisions with the support of the Regional Director.
The overall mission of this position involves supplying auto parts and accessories to the Advance Auto Parts store locations. All Advance Auto Parts Team members will be required to assist in any department (other than their primary department) when and where their assistance is required.
These departments may include: Shipping, Receiving, Replenishment Reclamation, Cycle Count, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The DC General Manager may perform any number of duties and functions within the Facility.
Assist the Assistant DC Manager / Ops. Manager with daily departmental duties.
Fully understand all facets of the primary DC and other related facilities / operations as assigned.
Meet with other Facility Managers, Asst. DC Manager, Ops. Manager, and Department Managers and Supervisor to discuss and review the workload. Includes allocation of team members, discuss goals and objectives for the shift/department, and team member performance.
Maintain good customer relations with retail stores.
Is directly responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the DC and assigned operations.
Insure that all pick locations are at capacity and that staff are adhering to all Company and Departmental policies and procedures.
Accurately transfer direction and instruction to the facility staff.
Monitor all activity within the working time frame to ensure efficient and quality oriented working shift
Consistently monitor that all safety procedures are in place and utilized.
Monitor absenteeism, tardiness and/ or personnel problems.
Communicate with all personnel regarding training, machine operation, and problem solving on the WMS system.
Meet with Managers / Supervisors on other shifts to discuss production issues.
Conduct start-up meetings with team members to discuss day before results, today s expectation, issues that need to be addressed, office/safety issues, work assignments for the day.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Maintain a strong working relationship with and between managers and supervisors.
Must be able to communicate effectively with team members and staff.
Strong working knowledge of the WMS system.
Keep the work-flow moving through the department as required.
Ensure the team members have all of the necessary tools to do their jobs.
Be constantly available in work location to assist as needed and resolve issues as required.
Regularly communicate with the facility management on issues that arise and be able to react as required.
Use equipment (pallet jack, forklift, order picker, reach truck, etc.)
Keeps work area neat, clean and hazard free.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly or indirectly supervises all team members in the facility.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization s policies, procedures and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include training team members, planning, assigning, and directing work; writing and conducting performance appraisals; rewarding and counseling team members as appropriate; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
May have direct authority over one or more Assistant Managers, Operations Managers Department Managers and Supervisors.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Prior warehouse experience or training is strongly preferred.
BS/BA education preferred.
Seven to ten years directly related senior leadership experience in distribution center management and/or training.
