For assigned New Product
Introduction (NPI) projects:
1.Project Management
Responsibility and authority to
lead Operations functional
execution through the new Product
Development Process Lifecycle (PDP)
from Project Initiation to Volume
Production
a.Represent Operations function on
the Cross Functional NPI project
core team
b.Drive integrated project
planning, representing Operations,
to establish work commitments and
dependencies between Operations and
other functions.
c.Lead Operations extended project
team to execute to the requirements
of the Operations PDP functional
policy, to provide functional
deliverables supporting achievement
of project goals
d.Drive Operations implementation
to plan including:
i.Alignment and setting of project
goals/metrics during Planning Phase
ii.Project resourcing
iii.Managing work commitments
across the Operations project team,
ensuring required deliverables are
completed on time
iv.Micro-planning, schedule
updating, pull-in
v.Proactive risk management and
issue management
vi.Forecasting and meeting
Operations project expenses (Test
Equipment, Vendor Tooling, etc)
vii.Capacity Planning / Ramp Up
Planning
e.Accountability for successful
product introduction into
Operations organization and
achieving agreed project
goals/metrics during Production
Ramp Up phase
2.CM Direct Launch
Ensure Manufacturing needs for
effective CM Direct Launch with a
fast, predictable Production Ramp
Up are met during NPI development
lifecycle including:
a.DFx, Supply Chain, Reliability
and Build reviews/analysis at
appropriate phase of PDP
b.Drive concurrent Manufacturing
process development alongside
Product development, with
Manufacturing Process complete and
validated prior to 1st Pilot build
c.CM Training Plan defined and
executed
3.Reporting
Provide high quality, concise
management reporting of project
status, risks & issues, with rapid
escalation of barriers or issues
outwith the project teams span of
control. Ensure completeness and
accuracy of information reporting
related to Operations function.

4.Leadership
Ensure alignment exists throughout
the cross-functional project team
and within the Operations extended
team.
Within project teams foster a
culture of accountability &
commitment, proactive risk
management, transparent
communications, early visibility
and escalation of blocking issues,
urgency for corrective action, with
emphasis on root cause
understanding and continuous
improvement
Key Metrics
1.PDP Compliance - completion of
all expected Operations
deliverables throughout PDP
lifecycle
2.No project schedule slippage
attributable to Operations
execution
3.Achieve agreed Project targets
(Schedule, Cost, Quality, Delivery)
during Ramp-Up phase, as defined
and agreed in the Project Planning
phase

Experience and Education:
?Bachelor degree in technical field
(EE or ME preferred)
?5yrs experience within a business
developing and manufacturing high
complexity, leading edge technology
measurement products for the
communications industry
?Strong understanding of CM
manufacturing environment, through
direct experience managing CM
Operations, or successfully
transferring manufacture of
products into a CM
?5yrs Project Management experience
leading teams to achieve aggressive
cost, quality and schedule targets
?Experience managing project teams
in a geographically dispersed
environment, across time-zones and
multiple cultures, is a must
?5yrs experience of New Product
Introduction projects and
processes, in a cross-functional
environment (R&D, Marketing,
Operations, Service etc)
?Strong cross-functional knowledge
of New Product Development
lifecycle process and key
deliverables, from Project
concept/initiation through to
Volume Production
?Proven record of managing and
driving Continuous Process
Improvement (CPI) activities.
Strong analytical skills, ability
to sort through large amounts of
information and distill to root
cause for action/resolution
?Professional Project Management
qualification is preferred
?Professional qualification in Risk
Management, Six Sigma, Lean, CPI is
an advantage
