The Materials Science Engineer will work primarily as a development person in the Industrial & Transportation markets, incorporating thermal/acoustic insulation properties and developing thermal/acoustic insulation products and systems. This position will support technical initiatives for Aearo Technologies, LLC, in Indianapolis, IN.

The position will be responsible for but not limited to the following duties:

* Lead and support innovative applications, and extensions of new and existing technologies, products and/or businesses.
* Analyze and interprets results of technical work.
* Recommends and develops solutions for technical and product problems.
* Utilizes knowledge of technical, product, and market information and understanding of project scope, expectations, and requirements to contribute to the development project strategy.
* Explores development of new technologies or products
* Interact with customer/clients to better understand customer/client relations, processes and applications.
* Communicates relevant findings to external/internal customers as appropriate.
* Participate in the technical strategic planning process.
* Applies knowledge of environmental requirements to efforts.
* Domestic and international travel to support key global initiatives up to 20% of the time.
Relocation Information: Paid relocation is authorized for this requisition.

Qualifications

Basic/Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in a Science or Engineering discipline
* Minimum of 3 years of Research and Development experience in thermal/acoustic materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Masters degree
* 5+ years of experience in thermal/acoustic materials Research and Development preferred
* Expert/master knowledge and experience in application of scientific principles to a wide range of technical and product areas, including, but not limited to, aero-acoustics, airborne noise, heat and mass transfer, and fluid dynamics
* Demonstrable capability interacting with customer engineers, including modeling/predictive product development
* Thorough knowledge of material/product/system verification and validation
* Analytical, leadership, project planning, program development and deployment skills
* Knowledge of computer programs and corporate systems relevant to the assigned area of responsibility, including CAD, SEA (Statistical Energy Analysis) and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) .
* Solid interpersonal communication skills both oral and written
* Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
