    Position Overview

    The Art Program Instructor is responsible for crafting a fun and rewarding environment, while providing educational art programming for all ages. The Art Program Instructor will teach art to individuals within the community using a variety of mediums including oil painting, sketch and draw, acrylics, and “learn to paint” formats.
    Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation offers hundreds of programs to the community each season, including several creative arts programs. We host programs at the Monon Community Center and are committed to providing exceptional educational experiences to our participants.
    What we are looking for in our Art Program Instructor
    Reliability. You consistently perform well and you’re trustworthy. You arrive to work on time. You are organized. You can take direction and direct others.

    Communication Skills. You implement and model respect for all people, including participants as well as Monon Community Center guests and staff. You communicate effectively and with enthusiasm.
    Art Experience. You are passionate about art – both making it and teaching it! You are capable of teaching participants of all ages and skill levels through clear, enthusiastic instruction.
    What You’ll Be Doing
    Assessing + Teaching. You will be responsible for teaching a variety of art programs. You will assess each participant’s individual skill level so that you can teach in a way that makes each participant successful.
    Plan + Develop. You will be our resident art expert. You will work with our Recreation Supervisors to plan + develop seasonal program curriculums.
    The Must Haves
    • Prior experience working with a variety of ages.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or GED.
