Job Description

Associate Regional Director — Southern Indiana

Department:Field Ministry
Location:Various, CO

Description: This person must be agile and responsive in expanding Young Life’s reach in Southern Indiana as well as supervising a group of individuals so that more adolescents can be reached through quality, sustainable ministries. 


Spiritual Growth:

  • Has a relationship with Jesus Christ and is actively growing in ways outside of the Young Life ministry.
  • Grasps the idea of “relational ministry” and earning the right to be heard in both existing and new communities.
  • Seeks and maintains relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Leads teams and individuals in spiritual development
  • Adheres to Young Life’s policies for staff people.

New Area Development:

  • Making initial calls to potential cities/towns in Southern Indiana to gauge interest in Young Life.
  • First responder to calls/emails from Southern Indiana that come to the regional office regarding starting Young Life.
  • Help current areas in Southern Indiana start new Young Life areas nearby, helping with strategic planning, attending committee meetings, and teaching Area Directors.
  • Helps new areas grow and develop committees that can spiritually and resourcefully flourish for the long run.

Staff Development

  • Assist Regional Director in developing diverse leadership and ministries across the region.
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate staff, providing resources and experience needed to implement a vision. 
  • Meeting with Area Directors and Committee Chairs of current areas to ensure their personal and professional growth.
  • Visit areas as required or assigned, including routine and emergency crisis visits.
  • Observe and evaluate local areas ensure Young Life ministry is carried out with excellence.

Resource Development

  • Expected to personally fundraise 100% of their assigned regional budget through the cultivation of donors.
  • Equips new areas to get the financial resources needed by cultivating local donors, and assisting in the execution of fundraising events.
  • Possesses the ability to cast vision and give ownership to the committee to being locally sustainable. 

National, Divisional, and Regional Responsibilities

  • Pursues National, Divisional, and Regional Trainings as assigned.  Travels when necessary throughout the year.
  • Is an active part of a Regional Leadership Team; a group of regional staff that are committed to being team players, serving the mission of both Young Life and the Raceway Region.  Could be given regional projects throughout the year that are above and beyond the scope of the job 
  • Attends month-long assignments at Young Life properties in the summer when assigned.
  • Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct and time management.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone within the scope of ministry.
  • Develops an adequate system for reporting, expense report responsibilities and the use of regional funds using Young Life accounting applications.
  • Some of these responsibilities require travel, overnight stays, etc. throughout the year. 



  • College Degree preferred
  • Young Life staff experience is highly recommended to succeed in the position.
  • Must be able to supervise at a distance

  • Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries.
  • Proven relational skills
  • Must be growing in both emotional and cultural intelligence.
  • Has the potential and capacity to function as the regional director.
